Blue Jays vs. Yankees Prediction and Odds for Saturday, August 20th (Can Yankees Lineup Break Out of Slump?)
By Reed Wallach
The best team in baseball in the first half of the season has been arguably the worst since the All-Star Break.
The New York Yankees haven fallen off the pace for the best record in baseball in the month of August, playing well below .500. However, teams like the Toronto Blue Jays haven't been able to make up much ground on the Yankees, still trailing by several games as we hit the later stages of the season.
However, Toronto can mount a massive comeback if the Yankees keep up their poor play, and beating the Bronx Bombers will help their case quite a bit.
Can they take advantage on Saturday? Here are the odds with Gerrit Cole on the mound for the floundering Yankees.
Blue Jays vs. Yankees Odds, Run Line, Total
Run Line:
- Blue Jays: +1.5 (-150)
- Yankees: -1.5 (+130)
Moneyline:
- Blue Jays: +140
- Yankees: -165
Total:
- 7.5 (Over -115/Under -105)
Blue Jays vs. Yankees Prediction and Pick
The Yankees are in a good spot to break out of their month long slump against the Blue Jays and recently acquired starter Mitch White. White has struggled on the road this season, posting 4.85 ERA in eight appearances. While the Yankees are struggling, they are playing in their hitter friendly ball park that should knock around White and Blue Jays bullpen that is middle of the pack in ERA.
On the other side, Cole toes the slab for the Yankees. An All-Star this season, Cole has been prone to a few suspect starts, including his lone appearance against the Blue Jays, pitching less than six innings and allowing three earned runs and a pair of homers. Toronto has a ton of pop in their bats and Cole's been prone to allowing home runs.
While this game is being lined like a rock fight, I think we can see plenty of big flys and this game get over the total.
LEAN: OVER 7.5 (-115)
