The St. Louis Blues sit atop the Central Division with a 6-1 record as they head to California to take on the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday night. The game will serve as the beginning of a four-game road trip, starting with a tour against the three California teams and ending in Winnipeg in a meeting with the Jets.

The Kings will enter the game on a two game win streak, with wins against the Canadiens and Sabres.

This will be the third time this season that these two teams will meet. The Blue got the better of the Kings in the first two, beating them 7-3 on Oct. 23 and then blanking them 3-0 two days later. Both games took place in St. Louis.

Blue vs. Kings Prediction and Pick

The St. Louis Blues may have an impressive record so far this season, but some of the underlying statistics don’t back up this level of success to continue. They rank 18th in the NHL in high danger scoring chances, and 30th in opponent high danger scoring chances.

Meanwhile, the Kings rank among the league’s best in the offensive end, ranking third in high danger scoring chances.

The biggest difference between these two teams is shooting percentage. The Blues rank first in the NHL at 12.66%, while the Kings rank 25th at 7.45%. While that may be concerning, shooting percentage is a volatile stat that can change at any point in time. If the Kings can figure out their accuracy issues, they should win tonight. They’re in a great spot as an underdog.

Pick: Kings +122
