Boise State and Temple both lost in the quarterfinals of the Charleston Classic on Thursday afternoon, but under different circumstances.

The Broncos dropped a tough one to No. 22 St. Bonaventure in a back-and-forth affair, struggling to score against the vaunted Bonnies interior defense, shooting better from three than from two!

Meanwhile, the Owls got blitzed by the sweet shooting Clemson Tigers, losing 75-48. Temple's defense was hapless all game, leaving Clemson wide open from beyond the arc, which could spell trouble against an emerging Boise State offense.

Who has the edge in the opening game of the Friday slate in Charleston? Here are the odds, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Boise State vs. Temple Odds, Spread and Total

Spread:

  • Boise State: -6.5 (-105)
  • Temple: +6.5 (-115)

Moneyline:

  • Boise State: -255
  • Temple: +200

Total: 132.5 (Over -110/Under -110)

Boise State vs. Temple Prediction and Pick

I grabbed this opening line of Boise State -5 (you can find my plays in real time on my Twitter here), and the market agreed with me, moving the Broncos up a point-and-a-half.

While the record may look concerning, Boise will welcome a Temple defense that turns their opponent over at the 271st highest rate in the country and is incredibly inexperienced -- as only one player that plays more than 50% of minutes is an upperclassmen. For reference, Temple allowed Clemson to score 1.23 points per possession on Thursday afternoon.

Boise is starting to round into form from three after a slow start from three this season. The team hit on 34% of their attempts from beyond the arc, and I think they keep it going on Friday afternoon against a vulnerable Temple defense.

Aaron Mckie's club doesn't have the ball handlers to make the Broncos defense pay, and will be shooting over rangy defenders such as Emmanuel Akot.

I think Boise hands Temple another big defeat. While I got a better number, 6.5 is the last buy point for me for a smaller play.
