It's been a rocky start for both Boise State and UTEP, can one team get on track on Friday night?

UTEP is 1-3 on the season and looked helpless in a road loss to New Mexico last week. Now, they welcome Boise State, who hasn't wowed many just yet, but still figure to be a Mountain West contender. Can they show some life on the road as they prep for conference play?

Here's everything you need to know for the late game on Friday night:

Boise State vs. UTEP Prediction and Pick

This game is shaping up to be an ugly one. UTEP has fallen off a cliff this season on the offensive side of the ball, they are one of three teams with double digit turnovers already this season, joined by New Mexico State and Hawai'i (worth noting all those teams have played four games).

The team is struggling to generating consistent, offense and is averaging only 2.63 yards per carry. They now run into a defensive minded team in Boise State that is top 20 in the country in defensive success rate. In addition, they have generated 22 tackles for loss through three games.

Can Boise take advantage? The offense has sputtered with Hank Bachmeier under center, he was benched in the team's double digit loss to Oregon State in Week 1 and hasn't gotten going yet. Despite two easy matchups against New Mexico and Tennessee-Martin, the team is struggling to generate explosive plays (bottom half nationally in both explosive rush and pass rate) and is scoring less than two points per drive.

After playing at a fast tempo against Oregon State in Week 1, top 15 in plays per minute, the team is outside the top 80 the past two weeks. When the team is playing from ahead, as they are expected to in this one as double digit favorites, the game slows down.

I don't trust laying over two scores with Boise, but UTEP's lack of consistency on offense gives me pause as well. It's dog or pass for me on the spread, but I also like the under quite a bit in a game that will likely feature limited explosive plays.
