Boston College vs. Clemson Prediction, Odds and Spread for College Football Week 5
By Thomas Snodgrass
The Boston College Eagles are 4-0 and the Clemson Tigers are 2-2 and have dropped in the AP Poll to No. 25 in the rankings. Two surprises that are trending in opposite directions.
Boston College picked up a 41-34 victory in an overtime slugfest against the Missouri Tigers last week. With star quarterback Phil Jurkovec no longer manning the offense, the Eagles leaned heavily on running back Pat Garwo III, who had 25 carries for 175 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Newly-appointed starting quarterback Dennis Grosel came through when it mattered most, throwing a 10-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Zay Jones for the overtime winner.
Clemson has been crumbling in 2021. A once invincible football program now looks incredibly mediocre.
The Tigers offense has scored a season high 49 points against FCS SC State, but scored just three points against Georgia, 14 points against Georgia Tech, and 21 in an overtime loss to NC State.
Both Boston College and Clemson experienced overtime football in Week 4, could we see more overtime football from these programs in Week 5?

Boston College vs. Clemson Prediction
Is there any individual player who has been more of a disappointment in 2021 than Clemson quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei? Through his first four games, Uiagalelei has completed just 56.3 percent of his passes for 586 yards, and collected three touchdowns and three interceptions.
The Tigers’ defense has not looked all that spectacular either, allowing NC State quarterback Devin Leary to throw for four touchdown passes last week. The rushing defense (83rd in the country) should have their hands full against Garwo III in Week 5.
This Clemson team is spiraling out of control right now and I don’t see them getting it done against Boston College in Week 5. The Tigers are looking for a rebound game and this ain’t the one.
I’m taking Boston College to pick up the upset in Clemson and taking them on the moneyline at a hefty +500, and definitely taking the Eagles on the spread at +14.5.
