With Miles Sanders most likely sitting out in Week 8 against the Detroit Lions due to an ankle injury, Boston Scott and Kenneth Gainwell are set to take over the Philadelphia Eagles backfield.

WynnBET Sportsbook has the Eagles’ team scoring total set at 26, which is a reachable number considering the Lions defense.

As we focus on Philadelphia’s backfield, which back should you trust on placing a wager this week: Scott or Gainwell?

Here’s a quick statistical breakdown of both running backs so far this season.

Boston Scott vs. Kenneth Gainwell Stat Comparison

Rushing Attempts

  • Scott: 7
  • Gainwell: 26

Rushing Yards

  • Scott: 24
  • Gainwell: 120

Rushing Touchdowns

  • Scott: 1
  • Gainwell: 2

Receiving Targets

  • Scott: 4
  • Gainwell: 31

Receiving Yards

  • Scott: 10
  • Gainwell: 164

After Miles Sanders left last week’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders, it appeared that Gainwell would be the man in the backfield, but he quickly fumbled prior to halftime. Shortly after, Boston Scott started getting some work, seeing almost all handoffs from Jalen Hurts.

How quickly Gainwell gets back in the good graces of head coach Nick Sirianni remains to be seen.

While Scott could see more carries than Gainwell in Week 8, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be more effective. Even though he has only seen 26 rushing attempts, Gainwell is averaging 4.62 yards per carry and is quietly second on the team in receiving targets behind only DeVonta Smith (53).

The Detroit Lions defense has not been good. That’s not a surprise, with them being 0-7 after all, but the Eagles offense has been bad against any NFL defense.

Philadelphia is only set as three-point favorites against Detroit on WynnBET Sportsbook, so if anyone were to step up for the Eagles in Week 8, I would expect it to be Gainwell.
