Braves vs. Mets Prediction and Odds for Thursday, August 4 (Chocolate Chip Cookie Carrasco, Hot Out of the Oven)
By Josh Yourish
The biggest series in baseball right now is beginning in Queens, New York tonight. The Atlanta Braves are 3.5 games behind the New York Mets in the NL East and will be at Citi Field for a five-game series this weekend. The Braves have a chance to overtake New York for the division lead and the Mets have a chance to put Atlanta away early in August.
We will get to see one full turn through the rotation with this five-gamer. Kyle Wright takes the mound for the Braves against Carlos Carrasco for the Mets.
You can find odds for this massive series in the NL East and every other game on the MLB slate at WynnBET Sportsbook.

Braves vs. Mets Prediction and Pick
Kyle Wright has been good in his last three starts, going 7.0, 6.0, and 6.2 innings respectively and only allowing two earned runs in each. The Braves are 15-5 in his starts, and he is 13-4 and has a 2.93 ERA. However, that does not compare to Carlos Carrasco in his last three starts.
Carrasco has not allowed a run in his last three, dominating in different ways. In his last time out, he dazzled with seven strikeouts in 7.2 innings in a 4-0 win over Miami. On July 24, Carrasco went five innings, struck out one and didn’t allow a run in an 8-5 win over San Diego. July 14 was somewhere in between the two, but again the man did not allow a run. In fact, he only allowed three runs in his five starts in July. The Mets won all five.
It’s hard to say that one of the best offenses in the league struggles against right-handed pitching, but the Braves are not quite as effective as they are against lefties. Their OBP is 30 points lower and OPS is over 40 points worse.
This is such a close series and any marginal advantage will be huge. Another potential edge for the Mets is Dansby Swanson. This has been his breakout offensive season, but he has struggled against the Mets for his career. His OPS is .827 this year, but .627 against New York for his career and .433 in 2022.
Pick: Mets ML -115
