Boy oh boy, do we have a mismatch on our hands today!

The Braves, somewhat quietly, went on a heater recently; winners of 12 games in a row.

They had the luxury of playing against some bad teams in the Diamondbacks, Rockies, A's, and Pirates, but the Nationals are among the worst teams in MLB and have a major question mark on the mound. Right-hander Jackson Tetreault makes his Big League debut with Stephen Strasburg going back on the Injured List.

So why expect anything different from Atlanta?

Here are the odds for this game from WynnBET Sportsbook.

Braves vs. Nationals Odds, Run Line, and Total

Run Line

  • Braves: -1.5 (-135)
  • Nationals: +1.5 (+112)

Moneyline:

  • Braves: -240

Total:

  • Total 9 (Over -105/Under -115)

Braves vs. Nationals Prediction and Pick

There is no real way to sugarcoat Stephen Strasburg’s first start back from injury. It was awful.

Turns out, he wasn't quite healthy when he returned and is back on the mend, so in his place is Tetreault, making his MLB debut against the hottest team in the sport.

To make matters worse, Max Fried is starting for Atlanta and has been phenomenal so far this year. He is 6-2 with a 2.64 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 75 innings pitched. He is striking out nearly a batter per inning pitched and ranks in the top 20 in ERA, WHIP, and overall record. Fried has allowed just two earned runs over his last three games combined, totaling 20 innings.

All of this is just icing on the cake really as these two teams are so far apart it almost doesn’t matter who is pitching. The Nationals are playing some of the worst baseball in franchise history and the Braves are red-hot.

Pick: Braves -1.5 (-135) / Lean: Braves -2.5
