Braves vs. Phillies Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, July 26 (Aaron Nola Makes Philly a Live Dog)
By Peter Dewey
The Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies face off in the second game of a crucial NL East series on Tuesday night.
The Braves are making a serious push for the division lead, while Philly has stumbled as of late, entering this series losing seven of its last 10 games.
The Phillies have the right man on the mound on Tuesday to break that slide. Aaron Nola (6-7, 3.13 ERA) has been fantastic this season and our own Ben Heisler thinks he has an outside shot at winning the league’s Cy Young award.
Nola will face Braves impressive rookie Spencer Strider (4-3, 3.03 ERA) who has a nasty breaking ball that may only be bested by his insane mustache.
This should be a fun pitching matchup, so let’s jump into the odds via DraftKings for Tuesday:
Braves vs. Phillies Odds, Run Line and Total
Run Line:
- Braves -1.5 (+125)
- Phillies +1.5 (-145)
Moneyline:
- Braves: -135
- Phillies: +115
Total:
- 8 (Over -110/Under -110)
Braves vs. Phillies Prediction and Pick
I’m not sure that Nola deserves to be a home dog here even though Strider has been terrific this season.
Nola has a FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) of 2.82 this season, showing his ERA may actually be a bit unlucky, even though it’s already pretty solid.
The Phillies righty has been an absolute innings monster, tossing seven-plus innings in eight straight starts. After a bit of a slow start to the season, Nola has a 2.54 ERA since late May and the Phillies are 7-3 in his last 10 starts.
As good as the rookie Strider has been, he’s failed to make it through five innings in back-to-back starts. I can’t get past Nola being a home dog, so I’ll take a shot on Philly to turn things around on Tuesday night.
Lean: Phillies ML (+115)
