The Miami Marlins and Milwaukee Brewers kick off a four-game series at loanDepot park tonight in Miami.

The Brewers remain in first place in the NL Central despite a bit of a cold spell while the Marlins are quickly falling out of contention in the NL East.

The Brewers have been let down recently by their pitching as their offense is raking with 20 runs in their last three games. The problem is, they also gave up 29 in that span.

The Marlins, on the other hand, have been losing a lot more regularly. Miami is 2-9 straight up in their last 11 games and enter this series at 14-17.

Brewers vs. Marlins Prediction and Pick

Despite a loss Wednesday night to the streaking Reds, there were some positive developments in that game. Namely, Christian Yelich hitting for the cycle.

This is a big deal as the former MVP has been mired in a slump over the last couple of seasons. Injuries derailed his career as one of the best to play the game, but he has been looking better. He is hitting .357 with two home runs and six RBIs in his last seven games. The performance snapped an 0-9 streak at the plate for Yelich.

The Marlins counter the Brewers' offense with Pablo Lopez. Lopez had been a revelation for this team and entered with a 1.00 ERA and 0.89 WHIP in 23 ⅓ innings. He is second in the league in ERA, fifth in WHIP, and is tied for the best record in the MLB at 4-1. He’s been getting better every year and 2022 might be his breakout campaign.

With Lopez on the hill, and the Marlins getting such tasty underdog odds at home, I can’t pass up this chance to bet on such a hot arm.

Pick: Marlins +145 ML
