The Milwaukee Brewers and New York Mets wrap up a three-game series tonight at 7:10 PM EST as two teams heading in opposite directions.

Aaron Ashby makes his eighth start of 2022 after getting hammered by the Nationals in his last outing, surrendering six runs on 13 hits in the midst of Milwaukee's brutal slide. Overall, he has a solid 3.91 ERA but pitiful 1-5 record.

New York counters with Tylor MeGill in his second start back from injury. He only lasted 3.1 innings against the Angels last week, so it's unclear how deep he'll pitch into this game.

Can MeGill recapture his early-season magic and secure a victory or will Ashby lead Milwaukee from the ashes back into the win column?

Let's check out the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook to figure that out ahead of this Brewers vs Mets series finale:

Brewers vs Mets Odds, Run Line and Total

Run Line:

  • Brewers +1.5 (-190)
  • Mets -1.5 (+160)

Moneyline:

  • Brewers: +105
  • Mets: -125

Brewers vs Mets Prediction and Pick

Do you ever walk into a well-decorated room and notice a picture frame is off-balance? On the whole, the room looks great -- which just makes the crooked frame even more obvious. All you can focus on is the lone problem with the room, instead of how nice everything else looks.

That's how I feel about Brewers starter Aaron Ashby. Look at his MLB Statcast pitching profile and see if you notice the crooked frame:

For all his strengths, Ashby's wart is his command. He walks way too many batters and it seems he's overcompensated in his last couple of starts. In 10 innings over two starts this month, Ashby only walked one batter but surrendered 10 runs and 19 hits. By trying to correct the frame, he wound up making everything else worse.

I worry the Mets make him pay tonight. They're one of the best lineups in MLB and should get a full night out of Tylor MeGill, who was one of the league's most dominant pitchers in April.

Milwaukee is 29th in OPS against right-handed pitchers over the last two weeks. MeGill should enjoy light competition and enjoy his first win back from the Injured List. Ashby is talented, but until I see him correct his walk problem while not throwing meatballs over the middle of the plate, I can't trust him to carry a pathetic Brewers lineup.

Pick: Mets ML (-125)
