Brewers vs. Nationals Prediction and Odds for Friday, June 10 (Pitching Mismatch Favors Milwaukee)
By Matt De Saro
The Milwaukee Brewers' lead in the NL Central evaporated quicker than acetone after losing seven of eight over the last week. The Cardinals are on their heels right now and could easily take the division lead this weekend.
The good news for the Brewers is that they kick off a three-game series against the terrible Washington Nationals this evening. Washington is well-below .500, sitting in fifth place in a below-average NL East. It will be an uphill battle for the Nationals to start this series off with a win thanks to a shaky starter and inability to score runs.

Brewers vs. Nationals Prediction and Pick
Erick Fedde starts today for Washington after getting beat up by one of the worst teams in baseball last week. Fedde gave up four runs in 4 ⅔ innings against the Reds Saturday after giving up seven hits and walking two. He struck out one batter and now has just one punchout in his last two starts. Fedde had a terrible April but seemed to pull it together in May with a decent 3.72 ERA. However, over his last two appearances, things haven’t gone well, giving up 10 earned runs in his last 5 ⅓ innings.
Things get worse when you look at Fedde’s career stats against the Brewers’ current lineup. This team is batting .300 against him with five extra-base hits in 48 at-bats. Meanwhile, the Nationals are hitting just .214 against Brewers’ starter Aaron Ashby. The young lefty has a 3.13 ERA and 1.28 WHIP while mixing time between the bullpen and rotation. Overall, over 46 innings, he’s been fantastic as a starter with a lower BAA than when he is called in as a reliever.
Betting against the Nationals is an easy call right now while their whole team is in an extended slump. This pitching matchup just makes it easier.
Pick: Brewers RL -1.5 (+110)
