Brewers vs. Phillies Prediction and Odds for Sunday, April 24 (Back Both Offenses in Philadelphia)
By Ben Heisler
The Sunday Night Baseball game of the week takes us to Philadelphia as the Phillies look to win a series for the first time since they opened the season vs. the Oakland Athletics.
The Phillies are 3-7 in their last 10 games, and face a Milwaukee Brewers club that's going in the opposite direction; 7-3 over their last 10.
Left-hander Eric Lauer gets the call for the Brewers tonight against Phillies ace Aaron Nola who's gotten off to a tough start in the early going. Will the matchup under the light be enough to get things turned around?
Here's the latest odds from WynnBET Sportsbook ahead of tonight's prime time matchup on ESPN.
Brewers vs. Phillies Odds, Run Line, Total
Run Line:
- Brewers: +1.5 (-150)
- Phillies: -1.5 (+125)
Moneyline:
- Brewers: +135
- Phillies: -145
Total: 8 (Over +100/Under -120)
Brewers vs. Phillies Prediction and Pick
I'm not sure why the books are hinting at the under being in play tonight, so I'll jump on the number at even money in the stand-alone matchup.
The Phillies are built like a softball team, with tons of mashers in the lineup. Eric Lauer had issues getting past the Baltimore Orioles in his first start of the season, and then pitched well vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates in start number two. The Phillies will be by far his toughest challenge of the season, especially with very good weather tonight.
Philadelphia also has seen Lauer before and done well. The Phils have give different starting all hitting .333 or above against him in their career.
As for Nola, his strikeout numbers have gone down in every game so far this year, but so to have the runs allowed. Milwaukee has had some consistency issues with its offense, but the Brewers appear to be back on track after a slow start; scoring at least four runs in every game but one over the last week.
I think we'll see some balls leave the yard as both pitchers have to grind their way through a surprise slugfest at Citizens Bank Ballpark.
