Brewers vs. Pirates Prediction and Odds for Saturday, July 2 (Brewers' Offense is Peaking at the Right Time)
By Matt De Saro
The Milwaukee Brewers are clinging to a slim lead in the NL Central over the St. Louis Cardinals by two games entering Saturday. And while the lowly Pirates took Game 1 of this current series, the Brewers' offense woke up in a big way last night with a 19-2 victory over Pittsburgh.
Milwaukee's Rowdy Tellez hit his fifth home run in as many games in what ended up being a seven-run second inning. The Brewers are now 7-1 against the Pirates this year. Meanwhile, the Pirates enter this game 2-6 in their previous eight games overall.

Brewers vs. Pirates Prediction and Pick
As if the Pirates weren’t having enough issues, their starter tonight Bryse Wilson has been a total flop again in 2022.
The 24-year-old righty has been in the league for six seasons, yet somehow has a career ERA of 6.17. Who keeps giving this guy contracts? Wilson has ascended to new levels of bad this year with an 0-4 record, 8.29 ERA, and 1.84 WHIP. Bad as that is, he has been getting worse every start. Wilson posted a 10.80 ERA in May, then had one spot start in June where he allowed seven runs and 10 hits in five innings against the Cardinals.
Unfortunately for the Brewers, while they might dominate Wilson today, their starter Aaron Ashby has been a mess as well. Ashby was killing it through the first two months of the season with a 2.74 ERA in his first 12 starts. However, since the end of May, Ashby fell off a cliff and has an 8.40 ERA in his last three starts. The worst of which was an abortive six-run outing against a terrible Nationals team.
The total for this game might seem a bit high for PNC Park, but I think it’s well-beatable. The total in both games of this series went well over this total, especially last night’s 21-run outburst. While I don’t expect the Brewers to score 19 runs again tonight, I do believe they do enough damage to push this total OVER 10.5.
Pick: OVER 10.5 (-110)
