Brewers vs. Rays Prediction and Pick for June 28 (Adames Returns to Tampa; Blood Returns to Woodruff's Fingers)
By Josh Yourish
Milwaukee travels to Tampa Bay to begin a midweek series with the Rays tonight. The Brewers enter at 42-33, a half-game up on the Cardinals for first in the NL Central and Tampa sits at 40-32, in fourth place in the vaunted AL East, 13 games out of first place.
Both sides were able to reset their rotation with a day off yesterday. For Game 1, Milwaukee goes with Brandon Woodruff and Tampa Bay runs out Shane Baz.

Brewers vs. Rays Prediction and Pick
Last year these two squads made a rare, major leaguer for major leaguer, trade when Milwaukee sent Drew Rasmussen and J.P. Feyereisen for Willy Adames and Trevor Richards. Adames slotted into the shortstop position for Milwaukee and Wander Franco was his obvious replacement in Tampa Bay.
Franco returned to the lineup for Tampa Bay on Sunday against the Pirates, but it is another infielder, Isaac Paredes who has been the best hitter in the Rays lineup of late. Paredes is hitting .407 with two doubles and five homers in his last 10 games. Paredes has never faced Woodruff.
For Milwaukee, Willy Adames has been hot and will likely be excited to face his former team. In his last 10 games, Adames is only hitting .268 but has two doubles and four home runs.
It has been almost exactly a month since Brandon Woodruff has taken the mound for Milwaukee. Woodruff was dealing with Raynaud’s syndrome which caused him to lose feeling in his fingers. Prior to his absence, Woodruff was not in his All-Star form, his ERA is up around five and he was allowing 8.5 hits per nine innings, the most since his rookie season in 2017.
My girlfriend has Raynaud’s syndrome and I can’t imagine her snapping off a slider worth anything, or pulling the string on changeup when she’s doing little exercises to get blood back into her hands after they’ve turned white.
If that explains the beginning of Woodruff’s season, and he has the remedy now, then I expect him to return to form tonight and that is bad news for Tampa Bay.
Pick: Brewers +100
