Brewers vs. Red Sox Prediction and Odds for Sunday, July 31 (Keep Fading Boston Ahead of Trade Deadline Sell Off)
By Reed Wallach
Boston's slide out of the playoff race has continued as the team appears set to sell off quality pieces at the MLB Trade Deadline.
The Red Sox are below .500 on the season and are falling further and further off the pace in the American League Wild Card race. Now, it appears that the team will be moving J.D. Martinez and Christian Vasquez, among others, ahead of Tuesday's deadline.
Boston has dropped the first two of their series against the NL Central leading Milwaukee Brewers, will it stop the bleeding in the series finale? Here are the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook and our best bet:
Brewers vs. Red Sox Odds, Run Line, Total
Run Line:
- Brewers: -1.5 (+115)
- Red Sox: +1.5 (-140)
Moneyline:
- Brewers: -129
- Red Sox: +119
Total:

Brewers vs. Red Sox Prediction and Pick
The back end of the Red Sox rotation continues to be a dumpster fire as they face quality competition. Josh Winckowski is closer to a AAA pitcher than an MLB pitcher right now. He has struggled quite a bit in his eight big league starts, posting a 5.18 ERA and allowing nearly 11 hits per 9 innings.
The Red Sox are just 3-5 in his starts this season and I don't envision a competitive outing from the rookie right hander. Meanwhile, the Brewers have had strong pitching all season and should get a quality start from lefty Aaron Asbhy. The southpaw is punching out over 10 batters per nine innings and should be due for some positive regression towards the back end of the season. While he has a 4.38 ERA, he has a FIP of 3.83. Against a sputtering Boston offense, this could be the perfect opportunity for him to put together a strong outing.
I can't back Boston given their struggles and impending sell off in the next few days. The club is fourth in strikeout rate in the month of July and 26th in wRC+.
LEAN: Brewers ML (-129)
