Brewers vs. Reds Prediction and Odds for Monday, May 9 (Expect a Pitchers' Duel in Cincinnati)
By Ben Heisler
It took until the first weekend in May, but the Cincinnati Reds finally won a series!
The suddenly "red-hot" Reds won two of three against the Pittsburgh Pirates over the weekend, scoring an average of seven runs a game in the three-game set.
They welcome the Milwaukee Brewers to start a three-game set at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, and may be catching the Brewers at an ideal time. Since starting 4-5, Milwaukee is now 19-10, but have lost their last two games.
Can the Reds stay rolling, or will the Brewers get back on track?

Brewers vs. Reds Prediction and Pick
The Reds get a jolt in the arm this evening with right-hander Luis Castillo making his first start of the 2022 season. He started the season on the injured list dealing with a shoulder issue, and he's been one of the Reds' most consistent starters since 2017. Despite an 8-16 record last year, Castillo finished with a 3.98 ERA and a wins-above-replacement (WAR) of 3.7.
Meanwhile, the Brewers send Brandon Woodruff to the mound for a second straight start vs. the Reds. Despite striking out 12 batters in 5.2 innings, Woodruff also gave up three runs and two home runs. He's allowed seven runs over his last two starts in just 9.2 innings, but in his previous two outings, he blanked the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals over 11 innings.
Even with the Reds starting to feel more confident at the plate following their series win, I like both pitchers to set a tone early and limit the runs on the board. The Reds own the best OVER record in baseball at 18-9-1, but I expect both starters to help buck the trend tonight.
LEAN: UNDER 7.5 (-120)
