The Cincinnati Reds are set to host the Milwaukee Brewers in a battle of NL Central foes. The Reds, with a .359 winning percentage, are likely to end the year in last place in the division and pose little threat to the Brewers in most cases. Milwaukee, meanwhile, is fighting with the Cardinals for the top spot in the division and needs every win they can get right now.

It’s never a good look to lose to the Reds, but I don’t know if the Brewers can get past some bad pitching on their end.

Here are the odds for this game from consensus sportsbooks.

Brewers vs. Reds Prediction and Pick

We’re back again covering another start by Mike Minor. An aptly named man considering the Minors is exactly where he belongs. Minor is making his third appearance of the season after making a late start. Things, to say the least, have not gone well. Minor has a 7.36 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 14 ⅔ innings. In Minor’s first three starts he’s allowed six home runs to exit the park in what is a troublesome stat. Considering how badly he’s looked this year, I’m amazed the Brewers aren’t bigger favorites.

Maybe it’s because Adrian Houser isn’t having the best go if it recently either. He enters this series finale at 3-7 with a 4.21 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 62 innings. As bad as that is, he’s been worse lately with a 5.74 ERA in three starts this month Over his last two starts, Houser allowed nine runs in 10 innings and does not look like the same guy who posted a 2.53 ERA in his first month of play.

I don’t have any confidence in either of these guys to get the job done. This goes double for Minor as he was not only beaten up but beaten up by two of the worst teams in the MLB. The Nationals scored five runs on him while the Diamondbacks beat him up twice for a total of seven runs. The Brewers could send this game over the total all by themselves.

Pick: OVER 9.5
