The first round of the Open Championship is in the books and it's already shaping up to be an exciting event.

Royal Liverpool has exceeded expectations through the first round, and with tough weather on the horizon, it's teeth are only going to grow bigger as the event continues into the weekend.

At the conclusion of the first round, there are three golfers tied atop the leaderboard. Tommy Fleetwood, Emiliano Grillo, and amateur golfer Christo Lamprecht, are all tied at five-under par.

Let's take a look at the live odds heading into Friday.

The Open Championship Live Odds After Round 1

The Open Championship Live Prediction

Tommy Fleetwood is from the local area and was a popular pick to win the event earlier this week. Will he go wire-to-wire to win his first major? Is he worth a live bet?

I don't think so. I'm looking in a different direction instead. In fact, I'm looking at another golfer who's tied atop the leaderboard.

That golfer is Emiliano Grillo, who is still available at +2500.

Every golf fan and bettor knows that Grillo is one of the best ball strikers on Tour, but his putting has held him back from being as successful as he could be.

His ball striking prowess was on full display today, leading the entire field in strokes gained approach at +4.28. That's 0.46 more than the next best golfer today.

But, the reason I like him to win his first major after Round 1 is his putting was strong today as well, gaining +1.06 strokes on the field with his putting. The greens at Royal Liverpool seem to even the field when it comes to putting. There are so many contours that the R&A was forced to make the greens play significantly slower than they do at other majors.

That's fantastic news for good ball strikers and bad putters. In comes Grillo who lit up the course today.

Now's the time to jump on him heading into Round 2 of the Open Championship.
