This Thursday, the oldest and arguably most prestigious golf tournament in the world will take place at Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake, Merseyside, England.

The 2023 British Open will feature nearly every top name in golf, but two names are above the rest in the opening odds this week. 

Rory McIlroy (who won the British Open in 2014) and Scottie Scheffler are atop the odds board this week. McIlroy is the favorite at +650 to capture the crown. 

The last time the event was played at Royal Liverpool Golf Club was in 2014 when McIlroy won, so it’s no surprise that oddsmakers are giving him the edge this week.
