The 150th Open Championship kicks off Thursday, July 14, at St. Andrews as a loaded field hopes to secure the final major of the 2022 season.
Collin Morikawa won last year's British Open and sits at +1500 at WynnBET Sportsbook to defend his title.
Only two players in men's golf history have won The Open Championship and the PGA Championship before turning 25:

This is the 30th time St. Andrews will host the British Open. Zach Johnson won back in 2015 in the most recent Open Championship played at St. Andrews.

British Open Picks and Predictions
As I always do, I'll start my card with Collin Morikawa (+1500). The defending champion remains one of the best iron players on Tour and seems to always perform at majors, taking fifth at both the Masters and U.S. Open already this year.
Will Zalatoris has finished in the top-10 in 5 of his first 8 career major starts.
β Justin Ray (@JustinRayGolf) June 18, 2022
The last player to finish top-10 in 6 of his first 9 majors was Antonio Cerda (1957). The Argentinian only played in The Open in his career - finished in the top-10 seven years in a row.
Will Zalatoris (+1500) is another auto-bet for me, especially at a course that suits his game perfectly. He leads the Tour in Strokes Gained: Approach while ranking 16th in Driving Distance. For a player that's come so close to glory so many times, it's only a matter of time before Zalatoris earns his first major championship.
I'm targeting Justin Thomas (+1500) and Cameron Smith (+1800) as well. Both are among the top of the leaderboard in Strokes Gained: Approach, Driving Distance, and Par 4 Performance, three key indicators for the Old Course at St. Andrews.
With sustained winds of over 20 mp/h expected for the Scottish Open here are the top golfers in "Worst" weather conditions.

1) Viktor Hovland
2) Tommy Fleetwood
3) Jon Rahm
4) Cameron Smith
5) JT
6) Danny Willett
7) Matt Fitzpatrick
8) Sepp Straka
9) Alex Noren
10) Cantlay
Due to his stellar play in windy conditions, Viktor Hovland is worth a look at +2500 as well.
Three dark horses I like include Tommy Fleetwood (+4000), Joaquin Niemann (+5000,) and Sungjae Im (+5000). Fleetwood has two runner-up finishes at The Open in his resume and took T14 at the Masters and T5 at the PGA Championship. Niemann and Im are both excellent across the board while showing an ability to catch fire and distance themselves from the field.
