Broncos vs. Chargers Prediction, Odds, Against Spread and Over/Under for NFL Week 17
By Matt De Saro
After losing back-to-back weeks, including to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Chargers' hopes of winning the AFC West are gone. The Chiefs clinched and the Chargers are now 8-7 and in real danger of missing the playoffs altogether. As it stands, they are outside the top-7 due to losing a tiebreaker against the 8-7 Baltimore Ravens. The Raiders also have an 8-7 record in the AFC but lost the tiebreaker to both the Ravens and Chargers should the season end today.
What this means is that the Chargers absolutely need to win this week against the Broncos and next week against the Raiders. They would also need the Ravens to lose in order to slide into their seventh spot.
The Broncos, meanwhile, are currently tied for 12th with the Cleveland Browns. Technically not mathematically eliminated but they are a stroke of divine intervention away from making it to the seventh spot. So, as with many other teams this late in the season, the Broncos are playing spoiler to their conference rivals.

Broncos vs. Chargers Prediction and Pick
This feels like a very good spot for the Chargers to bounce back and keep their playoff hopes alive. They are a much better team and have one of the best young quarterbacks the NFL has seen in a long time in Justin Herbert.
Despite some late-season struggles, the second-year QB is second in the NFL in passing yards at 4,394 and tied for fourth with 33 touchdowns. Herbert had a decent game last week if you ignore his two interceptions and went 27-for-35 for 336 yards and a touchdown. It’s important to note that the Chargers were playing without running back Eckler who would normally open up the passing game for LA. He is expected to return from the COVID list in time for this game along with several other players they were forced to play without.
At full strength and coming off a loss that might have cost them the playoffs, I expect the Chargers to come out blazing and leave little the Broncos scrambling in Week 17.
Pick: Los Angeles Chargers -5.5 (-110)
