NFL fans don’t have to wait long for Russell Wilson to make his return to Seattle, as the new Denver Broncos quarterback will face his former team on Monday Night Football in Week 1.

The Seattle Seahawks are in a rebuild, and they have Geno Smith starting at quarterback after he beat out former Bronco Drew Lock for the job in the preseason.

Denver is expected to make a major leap in the 2022 season after finishing in last in the AFC West in the 2021 campaign. The Broncos have a new head coach in Nathaniel Hackett, and they have one of the better supporting casts to surround Wilson.

There are 10 home dogs in Week 1, and Seattle is yet another. Here are the odds from FanDuel Sportsbook for this matchup:

Broncos vs. Seahawks Odds, Spread and Total

Spread:

  • Broncos -6.5 (-106)
  • Seahawks +6.5 (-114)

Moneyline:

  • Broncos: -270
  • Seahawks: +220

Total:

  • 44.5 (Over -110/Under -110)

Seahawks vs. Broncos Betting Trends

  • Pete Carroll’s Seahawks teams are 16-9 ATS as home underdogs since 2010.
  • The Broncos were the best UNDER team in the NFL last season, going 12-5.
  • The UNDER was 10-6-1 in the Seahawks’ 17 games last season.

Broncos vs. Seahawks Prediction and Pick

This is a must-win for Denver, which is rare that anyone says that in Week 1 of the NFL season.

However, in a loaded division and conference, the Broncos can’t afford to lose to a team that is expected to be one of the worst in football.

I have very little confidence in Geno Smith, who went 1-3 in four games for Seattle in the 2021 season. The Seahawks scored just 17, 20 and 10 points in the three losses, although they did put up 31 points in a win over Urban Meyer’s Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Broncos are a solid defense, especially in the secondary with Justin Simmons, Ronald Darby and Patrick Surtain II. That’s going to make things tough on Smith, and the Seahawks also could be without rookie running back Kenneth Walker III (hernia).

Denver has a better team, and I think Wilson is going to show Seattle what it’s missing in Week 1.

Lean: Broncos -6.5 (-106)
