Brooks Koepka Latest Injury Bad News for the PGA Championship
Brooks Koepka is usually a must-bet at the PGA Championship. A two-time winner of the event with four additional Top 15 finishes since 2014, betting on Koepka to compete at the PGA Championship over the last decade is about as sure a thing as you'll ever get in golf -- post Tiger of course.
Unfortunately, Koepka can't shake the injury bug that's haunted him for the last few years and it appears it's reared its ugly head again.
Koepka withdrew from the Byron Nelson today just hours before he was expected to tee off. He hasn't played since missing the cut at the Masters and has endured a turbulent season including four missed cuts but also two to-five finishes.
The positive performances had to give bettors hope he would return to glory at the PGA Championship, where he currently has +2400 odds to win it at WynnBET. However, given his inconsistent play and injury history, I'd stay away from betting him in two weeks.
Koepka has missed time the last three seasons with knee injuries. No reason was given for his withdraw from the Byron Nelson, but given how last second it was, we can only assume he either tweaked something or his body didn't respond to treatment the way he expected it to.
Either way, with the PGA Championship only two weeks away and Koepka having not played competitively since the Masters, now is the not the time to go all-in on Koepka winning his fifth major.
