The Boston Bruins are the only NHL team to have only played one game so far this season, but they’re set to get their second under their belt tonight when they travel to Philadelphia to take on the Flyers.

The Bruins won their season debut, taking down the Dallas Stars 3-1 on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Flyers will enter the game with a 1-0-1 record after losing to the Canucks in a shootout last week but they bounced back with a 6-1 trouncing of the Seattle Kraken on Monday.

Let’s take a look at the odds for this Eastern Conference matchup, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Bruins vs. Flyers Prediction and Pick

This early in this season, I tend to lean towards betting on totals due to not having a large sample size of statistics to use when it comes to betting on a side. Instead, I’m going to fade the goaltending matchup in this one and take the OVER 5.5 goals at -120.

Martin Jones is getting the start for the San Jose Sharks, and he’s the Matt Harvey of the NHL world. How this guy continues to get work is beyond me. He hasn’t had a save percentage better than .900 in three straight seasons, and he had an abysmal goals against average of 3.60 last year.

The Bruins will start rookie Jeremy Swayman in net, and while he’s a highly touted prospect with a bright future, it’s rare for a rookie goalie to be good as soon as he gets in the league. Goalies usually go through a few years of roller coaster play before settling into their own in the NHL.

For that reason, I’m banking on goals tonight. Give me the OVER 5.5 at -120.
