Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young has the Heisman locked up. At least if you believe the current odds to win listed online. Where the odds are still on the board, Bryce Young has taken a massive leap forward in the quest for the Heisman Trophy. Aidan Hutchinson out of Michigan is the second option with Pitt's Kenny Pickett third.

Young did what most Heisman winners have done in the past by putting up big numbers and leading his team to a winning season. Young did more than that last week when Alabama beat No. 1 Georgia in the SEC Championship Game.

Young went 26-for-44 with 421 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. He added 40 yards on three rushes and an additional touchdown to put his total to four on the day. Not only was it a nearly flawless game, but it came against what many considered the best defense in the nation.

And Young didn’t just have a good game, he had an amazing game and finished with a 98.0 QBR against the top-ranked team in the country. And Alabama not only won, but they also beat up on the Bulldogs and won by 17.

The game left Young with a regular-season statline of 4,322 yards (fourth) 43 touchdowns (second), four interceptions (tied for ninth), and a QBR of 88.9 (second). He ends the season with a completion percentage of 68.0 and a passer rating of 175.5. He’s added just 31 rushing yards after several games in the double-digit negative in rushing yards after bad sacks.

Heading into last weekend, Georgia had given up just 150.8 passing yards per game and allowed just 6.9. Less than seven points per game!

But, as many pointed out, the Bulldogs weren’t playing the best the league had to offer and played just two ranked teams all year. Young showed them what an NFL-caliber QB can do and broke the SEC Championship record in passing yards and all-purpose yards.

The Heisman is a regular-season award so no matter what happens during the CFP, the winner shouldn’t change. Therefore, if Young is available at your sportsbook and you feel like making a free bet, grab it while you can. Unless some scandal breaks from now until the voting is done, there is no way he doesn’t win.
