Motivation is always a question during the last week of the NBA season for several different reasons.

When the Milwaukee Bucks travel to face the Detroit Pistons on Friday, it'll be interesting to see how each team approaches this one. The Bucks are on the second night of a back-to-back, are a lock for home court in the first round of the postseason, and may not be interested in clinching the No. 2 seed in the playoffs so quickly.

Meanwhile, the Pistons are building some momentum towards next season around No. 1 pick Cade Cunningham, but has rested guys in the second half down the stretch, potentially with draft positioning in mind.

Let's check out the odds for this important matchup with playoff seeding on the line from WynnBET Sportsbook:

Bucks vs. Pistons Odds, Spread and Total

Spread:

  • Bucks: -5 (-110)
  • Pistons; +5 (-110)

Moneyline:

  • Bucks: -220
  • Pistons: +180

Total: 228 (Over -110/Under -110)

Bucks vs. Pistons Prediction and Pick

I'd wait for the Bucks injury report to come out, but I do expect coach Mike Budenholzer to give most of his star players the night off against the Pistons on the second night of a back-to-back.

Detroit may also have questionable motivation, but the team has been impressive over the final stretch of the season behind Cunningham's fine play. The rookie is averaging 21/5/6 since the beginning of March and would love to continue his ascent going into the final games of the season.

Milwaukee can clinch the No. 2 seed with a win on Friday (or a Celtics loss on Saturday), but I expect the team to be going through the motions after a taxing game against Boston on Thursday. I'll go with the upstart Pistons who have been very competitive down the stretch, going 3-4 with a -1.3 net rating over their last seven games.

LEAN: Pistons +5 (-110)
