Buffalo Bills vs. Detroit Lions: Odds, Spread, Over/Under and Prediction for NFL Preseason Week 1 Game
The Buffallo Bills and Detroit Lions will start their quest for the Lombardi trophy on at 7 p.m. EST on Friday night, beginning their preseason schedules.
Buffalo is coming into the game having just signed Josh Allen to a six-year, $258 million dollar deal. Allen is the future in Buffalo and will most likely see limited time throughout the preseason.
As for the Lions, this is the first game of the Dan Campbell era. Campbell has already made the news for bulletin board material (see quotes regarding kneecaps), but this will be the first showing of his actual coaching ability.
Here's how the odds are at WynnBET:
Bills vs. Lions Spread, Odds and Over/Under
Spread:
Bills: -2.0 (-110)
Lions: +2.0 (-110)
Moneyline:
Bills: -135
Lions: +115
Over/Under: 37.0 (Over:-110/Under:-110)
Bills vs. Lions Betting Trends
Buffalo and Detroit were two of the best teams at hitting the over last season. They both hit the over in more than 60% of their games. Dan Campbell said that the plan is for his starters to play about a quarter. That seems heavy, especially for the first game, but that would bode well for the over in this game.
As for coaching, Sean McDermott is 7-5 against the spread in preseason games.
Bills vs. Lions Prediction and Pick
Even though the Bills will be the better team in the regular season, I'm going to go with the Lions to open up with a win. Josh Allen might not see the field much and Stefon Diggs has missed practice time leading up to the game. If the Bills' two stars aren't going to be on the field for long, or at all -- and the Lions are going to play their starters -- this is a good time to take the underdog on the moneyline.
