This is the right move for Chicago, as it needs to develop Fields in order to compete in the future. Playing Andy Dalton or Nick Foles would have done nothing for the team going forward, and both have proven to be worse or similar options to Fields at his current state.
The rookie should improve more and more as the season goes on, and he now has a legit shot to win Rookie of the Year.
