The Eastern Conference is better this season than it has been in years. The conference is strong from the No. 1 seed all the way down to the play-in. The Brooklyn Nets and the Milwaukee Bucks are the top two favorites to make it out the East and to win the Finals.

But don’t sleep on the Miami Heat to upset both of them.

WynnBET currently has the Heat’s odds to win the East at +550 and their NBA Finals odds at +1400. The Heat are the No. 2 seed in the East right now, and have just as good a shot to reach – and win – the NBA Finals.

Miami is seventh in offensive and defensive rating and fifth in net rating. Just like the Nets and the Bucks, the Heat have dealt with injury issues all season long. Kyle Lowry is currently out, Bam Adebayo just returned from injury and Jimmy Butler has been in and out of the lineup all year.

At the beginning of the season, when they were all healthy, the Heat were 7-3 in the first 10 games of the season. They were atop the Eastern conference and had the third-best net rating in the league. We haven’t seen that version of Miami for an extended period of time in a while.

Still, Miami has figured out a way to stack wins and stay in position to be the best team in the Eastern Conference.

The Nets have an availability issue with their stars that seems like it will stick around for awhile. Also, they don’t have the ability to win games without their stars like the Heat do. Milwaukee, the other favorite, has looked average and unmotivated.

With Miami’s perseverance through adversity this season – and the proven track record of Erik Spoelstra – the Heat are in one of the best positions in the conference to have a deep playoff run.
