BYU's difficult schedule has begun to harm the team's record, now 4-3 on the year after losing to Arkansas last week.

The Cougars take the road to face a 6-1 Liberty team that has feasted on inferior competition. Now facing a quality opponent that has been battle tested, will the Flames be able to keep up?

Oddsmakers have installed Jaren Hall and the visiting Cougars as considerable favorites, will they hold up their end of the bargain?

BYU vs. Liberty Prediction and Pick

Liberty's defense has been a key reason why the team hasn't fallen off amidst two major quarterback injuries. Charlie Brewer injured his thumb in the team's opening game against Southern Mississippi and hasn't returned, but can be available this weekend, and the backup Kaidon Salter went down with a groin injury that will keep him out for the foreseeable future.

Jonathan Bennett has filled in admirably, but this Liberty team has been winning on the other side of the ball, generating the most tackles for loss in the country at 64 and forcing the most turnovers in the country with 18.

They will face arguably the best offense they have seen this season in BYU with Jaren Hall and a host of talented receivers that are finally all healthy at the same time in Gunner Romney, Puka Nacua and Chase Roberts.

Liberty's defense has been winning on standard downs, but they are prone to allowing chunk plays, bottom half of the country in explosive pass and rush defense, which is going to be the difference in this one.

The Cougars defense grades out poorly after facing the likes of Oregon and Arkansas, but now they are stepping down in class to face Liberty, who will struggle to keep up on the scoreboard.
