The BYU Cougars went from a 17-4 team to a 17-8 team real fast over the last couple of weeks. BYU has lost four straight games in the West Coast Conference and went from 5-1 to 5-5 in a hurry. Now, they are just struggling to survive until the end of the season puts an end to their suffering.

The Cougars hit the road tonight to take on the Loyola Marymount Lions in what should prove to be an interesting game between two struggling rivals.

While BYU’s issues are new, the Lions have been a losing team all season with a 9-12 overall record. Conference play has not been kind to them either was five straight losses in the WCC.

Here are the odds for this conference matchup, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

BYU vs. LMU Prediction and Pick

Despite their incredible implosion over the last month, I still think that BYU is a quality team that has experienced some mega bad luck including the loss of their starting forward, Gavin Baxter. Te’Jon Lucas is dealing with concussion issues and might be out tonight which would be a big problem for this offense. Lucas is the second leading scorer but leads the team in assists and his absence will have a negative impact on the flow of this offense.  The Cougars currently have the 121st ranked scoring offense and 138th scoring defense heading into Thursday night.

Predictably, LMU has a far worse roster to go along with their losing overall record. The Lions rank 267th in offensive scoring and 249th in defensive scoring. They are allowing opposing teams to shoot 53 percent from the field and rank outside the top 300 in opponent shooting percentage and shooting efficiency. Basically, The Lions are the perfect team for BYU to snap back into the win column.

Lean: BYU -6.5 (-110)
