No. 12 Oregon takes the short trip from Eugene to Portland, Oregon to face BYU in an early season showdown between two likely NCAA Tournament teams.

The Ducks have jumped out to a strong start, beating Texas Southern and SMU handedly, while BYU scored a massive early season win against San Diego State at home last Friday.

How should we bet this measuring stick game? Let's check out the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook.

BYU vs. Oregon Odds, Spread and Total

Oregon is the lone preseason National Championship bet I made, so you can tell where my allegiance is heading into this one, but there are several factors point towards the Ducks getting a cover here.

Let's start with the rebounding, where Oregon should take advantage of an undersized BYU team that has been poor on the glass early on. Dana Altman has a ton of size on hand with 6'11" Franck Kepnang, Eric Williams, and Syracuse transfer Quincy Guerrier to crash the glass on both ends.

Not to mention, I'm not sold on BYU just yet. While the team snagged a nice win last week, they have been over reliant on free throw shooting to supplant poor half court offense. The Cougars have a near 50% free throw to field goal attempt rate, so I need to see them put together a complete offensive effort before I back them against a high end team in Oregon that has a stifling zone defense.

If BYU rounds into from from deep, 24% through two games, then they can hang in this game, but I'm going to side with the Ducks to cover this short spread. BYU's inability to cause turnovers, just 13% (334th in the nation) thus far, will give point guard Will Richardson and Oregon's offense too many opportunities to push this game out of reach.

In a pseudo-home game, I'm laying the points but no further than -4.

PICK: Oregon -4
