Can Brooks Koepka Battle Through Injury At The PGA Championship?
A lot of question marks surround Brooks Koepka heading into this week’s PGA Championship. The two-time winner of the event has been plagued by hip and knee injuries dating back to the end of the 2019 PGA Tour season.
What makes it so hard to determine how he will look this week is that despite the injuries, Koepka has fought through them on his way to a win already once this year. Back in February, Koepka erased a five-shot deficit on Sunday to capture his second win at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Koepka followed up his win with a T38 at the Genesis Invitational and a T2 at the WGC-Workday Championship. He then decided to opt for knee surgery in hopes it would permanently fix the nagging injury.
He returned to action in April for the Masters but missed the cut after posting a disappointing five-over par through the first two rounds. Koepka proceeded to take yet another month off, only to return to action last week to miss the cut at the AT&T Byron Nelson.
So, which version of Brooks Koepka will show up at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island?
WynnBET currently has his odds to win his third PGA Championship set at +5000. If you think he can fight through the injury issues, then that’s a fantastic bet to make.
If you think betting on Koepka to win is a little bit of a stretch, there are other options that may seem much more enticing. For example, you can bet on him to finish in the top 10 at +400 (20% implied probability) or for him to finish in the top 20 at +175 (36.36% implied probability).
It’s tough to count out Koepka, especially at a Major Championship. The American burst onto the scene in 2017 and proceeded to win four major tournaments over the next three years with his latest coming at the 2019 PGA Championship.
Nobody knows what to expect from Koepka this week, but for what it’s worth, he showed up to the event with some (awesome?) facial hair.
