Can Jayson Tatum Continue His Heroics to Even Series With Nets?
By Peter Dewey
We knew it was going to take something special to beat the Brooklyn Nets this postseason, and Jayson Tatum delivered with a monster 50-point game to lift the Boston Celtics to a Game 3 victory.
Tatum shot 16-for-30 from the field in Game 3, and he rebounded from two sub-par showings in the first two games in Brooklyn. Tatum had a 50-point game in Boston’s play-in tournament win over the Washington Wizards as well, but can he carry the Celtics once again on Sunday?
WynnBET has Tatum’s player prop projection for points set at 32.5 today with the over (-116) slightly favored to the under (-104). Even though he struggled in Game 1 and Game 2, it’s hard to bet against Tatum considering he’s put up 50 in each of his last two home games.
The Celtics are 7.5-point underdogs on WynnBET, and they have +1200 odds to win the series. It’s a longshot for Boston, but Tatum could make things interesting today.
The Nets were 22nd in the NBA in defensive rating during the regular season, and the loss of forward Jeff Green was visible on Friday as the Nets are a much better team on both ends of the floor with him playing.
The lack of rim protection for Brooklyn is certainly concerning, but Tatum was finding mismatches on Nicholas Claxton, Kyrie Irving and others before hitting a dagger over Kevin Durant to clinch the win.
The Celtics are going to have a hard time winning back-to-back games against an ultra-talented Brooklyn team, but if you believe they’re going to do it, taking Tatum to hit the over is a must.
The Celtics superstar may go over 32.5 points even if the team loses, and his recent 50-point performances at TD Garden give a lot of confidence in his play heading into Game 4.
