Can Khris Middleton Repeat Game 3 Performance?
By Peter Dewey
Khris Middleton is a dark horse to win NBA Finals MVP this season, and he proved it in Game 3 with a 38-point game that included 20 fourth quarter points to help the Milwaukee Bucks regain home court advantage in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Now, with the Bucks set as 6.5 favorites on WynnBET to take Game 4 over the Atlanta Hawks, they’ll be looking to Middleton to build on his strong play from Sunday’s win.
Middleton struggled in Games 1 and 2 of the series, but it’s a good sign to see him have a big game if you’re a Bucks fan.
WynnBET has upped Middleton’s point projection for Game 4 to 23.5 points with the over (-108) as a slight underdog to the under (-112). After scoring 15 points in each of the first two games of the series, it appears Middleton is ready to turn a corner.
However, it’s hard to trust Middleton during the up-and-down run he’s been on this postseason. The Bucks All-Star wing has scored over 23.5 points just five times in 14 playoff games, but when he’s done so, he’s gone off, scoring 35 or more points in three of those games.
While Middleton has shown flashes this postseason that have garnered praise from his teammates, I don’t trust him to put up major numbers in Game 4.
He’s shot just 43.3 percent from the field in the postseason, and he hasn’t had back-to-back games over 23.5 points all playoffs.
Middleton may find himself having an efficient game on Tuesday, but the playoff trend he’s been on doesn’t signal another offensive explosion.
The Bucks have a chance to take a commanding 3-1 series lead with Trae Young banged up, but with big-time favorites struggling against the spread this postseason, I’m fading Middleton and the Bucks in Game 4.
