We've got a matchup of flaming-hot teams tonight as the 42-23-10 Washington Capitals take on the 55-14-6 Colorado Avalanche at 9:00 p.m. EST.

Colorado has won nine straight games while the Capitals have won five of six as both offenses are rolling.

The Capitals picked up a 6-3 win over the Avalanche in the only contest between these squads to far this year, but Colorado at home is a different beast.

Can the Avalanche hold serve at the Pepsi Center to extend their winning streak to double digits or will Washington pick up a second straight win over the prohibitive Stanley Cup favorites?

Let's check out the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook to help us find some value in this Capitals vs Avalanche matchup:

Capitals vs Avalanche Prediction and Pick

Both offenses are on a laughably good stretch. The Capitals are averaging 5.67 goals over their last six games while the Avalanche are averaging 5.33 in the same span. But there's a number of reasons to back Colorado tonight to extend their winning streak to 10.

Vitek Vanecek will likely get the start for Washington in net and he's been middling at best of late. He's allowed at least three goals in 10 of his last 12 starts and at least four in three of his previous five.

Colorado has won five of its last six at home by multiple goals and Vanecek should struggle to slow the Avalanche attack down. On the other end, Colorado's defense has been sensational at home. Over their last nine at the Pepsi Center, the Avalanche have allowed three or fewer goals eight times.

The Capitals have been fantastic as an underdog, winning six of their last eight, but Colorado is just on another planet. They'll be hungry for revenge after losing to Washington earlier this season and I can't fade them until they show me I should.

A backup goalie that's struggled against the most dominant home team in hockey is not a recipe for an upset. I like the Avalanche to notch another win by multiple goals.

Pick: Avalanche -1.5 (+120)
