Capitals vs. Flyers Prediction and Odds: Fade Philadelphia Until Further Notice
NOTE: Tonight's game between the Flyers and Capitals has been postponed due to COVID-19 protocols.
The NHL announced that they're taking their holiday break a few days early this season due to a massive outbreak of COVID-19 across the league. In what was supposed to be a jam-packed Tuesday night slate, only two games remain before the league pauses it's schedule.
One of the matchups still left is a Metropolitan Division showdown between the Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers.
The Capitals are tied for the division lead, which has caused their Stanley Cup odds to shorten and their place in my power rankings to rise. The opposite can be said for the Flyers, who have stumbled down the standings and now sit in sixth place in the division with a 12-12-5 record.
Here are the odds for today's showdown courtesy of WynnBET.

Capitals vs. Flyers Prediction and Pick
The Flyers have established themselves as one of the worst teams in the NHL inside their blue line. They rank dead last in high danger scoring chances against, allowing teams to average 13.25 per 60 minutes of play against them. Now they face a team that's led by one of the best goal scorers in league history in Alex Ovechkin. That's not a good combination.
The Flyers poor play is further highlighted by their CORSI%, which ranks 24th in the NHL ahead of tonight's meeting with the Capitals, who rank ninth in that stat.
There's just no way that I can be convinced to back Philadelphia in any capacity until they should me that they can play some resemblance of competent defense. Until then, fade away.
