After a thrilling upset victory over the Avalanche, the 43-23-10 Washington Capitals now travel to Vegas to take on the 41-31-5 Golden Knights at 10:00 PM EST.

Vegas has a 1-0 win over Washington this season, but they've lost three of four while the Capitals have won six of seven.

The Golden Knights' playoff hopes are hanging by a thread, can they pull off a critical home win or will the Capitals stay hot?

Vegas suffered a crippling 3-2 loss to the Devils on Monday and now face a must-win game against Washington to avoid missing the playoffs for the first time in playoff history. They aren't mathematically eliminated with a loss but they're close to it, so we should get a fully focused effort from the Golden Knights.

But honestly, that may not matter with how good the Capitals are playing. They've emerged through a brutal stretch in their schedule mostly unscathed, losing to the Maple Leafs but picking up impressive wins over the Avalanche, Bruins, Penguins, and Lightning. All of those teams are better than the Golden Knights, as an injury-riddled season seems to have caught up to Vegas.

The Golden Knights have lost two straight as a favorite while the Capitals are 4-1 in their last five as an underdog.

Home ice advantage shouldn't favor Vegas too much either, as Washington has been perhaps the best road team in the NHL this year. They're 24-8 on on the road, including victories in seven of their last eight.

Washington shouldn't be underdogs tonight. They're playing like one of the best squads in the sport and I'm thrilled to get plus money on them against a downtrodden Golden Knights club. Give me the Capitals.
