The Cincinnati Reds have the distinction of being the only team in the majors right now that is in the bottom two teams in terms of batting average and pitching ERA.

It’s impressive to me that one team could dominate the bottom of the barrel so successfully. But, the Reds have done just that. With a .184 batting average and 5.77 ERA, they are really blazing a trail for future awful teams to follow. Honestly, I'm surprised they managed to win two of their 15 games so far. Predictably, they lost to the Cardinals in their series opener last night 4-2 and have now lost ten games in a row.

The Cardinals, on the other hand, are in first place in the NL Central with an 8-4 record. I think that record will soon be 10-4 after this series in Cincy ends.

Cardinals vs. Reds Prediction and Pick

While we all expected the Reds to struggle this year, I don’t think many thought it would be this bad this fast. Even worse, there is no end in sight for this terrible slide the Reds find themselves in. There are no injured superstars waiting to get back on the field. And there are no trade rumors circling this team. The only circling being done is the circling the Reds are doing down the drain.

Tyler Mahle gets the start tonight for Cincy. Let’s all act surprised by his 7.82 ERA and 1.66 WHIP. Mahle's last failure was against the Dodgers where he gave up seven runs in 3 ⅔ innings. Most teams would have designated Mahle by now. But, the Reds literally have no better options.

I think I’ve made my point in this preview. But if not, let me be clear, Do not bet on the Reds to win, cover, or find any type of success in the near future. They haven’t even covered once in their last 10 games.

Until something changes drastically, the Reds will continue to lose badly on the regular.

Pick: Cardinals -102 / Lean Cardinals -1.5 (+140)
