Carlos Alcaraz Sees French Open and U.S. Open Odds Soar Following Miami Open Victory
Carlos Alcaraz beat out Casper Ruud to take home the Miami Open title on Sunday, prompting a big boost of confidence from the oddsmakers.
Alcaraz now sits in the top 3 of the French Open odds and the top 5 of the U.S. Open odds. With Novak Djokovic having a long layoff from tennis due to his vaccination status, there may be an opportunity to sneak to the top of the sport.
The next step for Alcaraz, the No. 11-ranked player in the world at 18-years old, is the French Open. He must go through Rafael Nadal to get there, however, as Nadal remains the current favorite to win at Roland Garros at +110.
Alcaraz is +350 to win it all, putting him behind Nadal and Djokovic (+250). At the young age of 18, he’s never won a major before, but all the signs are pointing towards one coming in the near future.
He made it to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open and improved on his finish in the Australian Open this season.
Alcaraz’s win in Miami was a sign to the rest of the tennis world that there is a new phenom to watch. Let’s see how he performs in France in two months.
