Carlos Rodon has been one of the top pitchers in the American League this season, but he has his work cut out for him tonight in what will be his first start since the All-Star break.

Rodon will take the mound against the Houston Astros, who currently boast the best offense in Major League Baseball. Houston enters the game averaging 5.42 runs per game, the most in the Majors. The Chicago White Sox are close behind, ranking 4th in runs per game at 5.13.

Rodon sports a 2.31 earned run average this season, good for second in the American League behind only Kyle Gibson at 2.29. He faced the Astros earlier this season on June 18, when he pitched for seven innings while only giving up three hits and one earned run.

If you’re looking for a player prop to bet on tonight, WynnBET has Rodon’s strikeout prop listed lower than most other sportsbooks for today’s action. WynnBET has his strikeout total set at 6.5 while other books have it set at 7.5, so if you want to back Rodon throwing Ks today, be sure to download the WynnBET app in New Jersey, Indiana or Colorado.

He recorded eight strikeouts in his June 18 start against Houston, but it is important to note that the Astros have the lowest team strikeout rate this season at 19.2%.

As far as game odds go, WynnBET has listed the White Sox as -130 favorites while the Astros are +110 underdogs on the road. The total for the game is set at 8.5.

The first two games of the three game series resulted in opposing blowouts. The Astros won the first game 7-1, but Chicago got its revenge in the second game, beating Houston by a score of 10-1.

Framber Valdez gets the start for the Astros. He faced the White Sox on June 19, giving up six hits and two earned runs through seven innings pitched. He enters tonight’s game with a 2.98 ERA but a 3.83 FIP, which means you may see some regression from Valdez as the season continues.

Given Rodon’s dominance this season as well as his success in his earlier start against the Astros, the White Sox are the bet to make in today’s AL showdown.
