Carson Wentz Injury Update is Great Sign for Colts

And just like that, Carson Wentz is back. 

No, seriously. Somehow Wentz is returning to practice tomorrow for the Indianapolis Colts after undergoing surgery on his foot in early August. He was supposed to be out a few months, maybe even the season. Instead, he's back.

Offensive linemen Ryan Kelly and Quenton Nelson will also be back at practice in a limited capacity.

If Wentz is truly healthy enough to participate in practice and prepare for the season, this is great for the Colts’ outlook this season.

Wentz had been on track to play in Week 1 despite a 5-to-12 week recovery timetable was initially diagnosed. It appears he’s seriously hit the lower end of that range. 

The Colts would be wise not to rush Wentz back into things, but the fact that he will be on the practice field has to make the franchise feel good about its chances this season.

Indianapolis made the playoffs in the 2020 campaign even though Philip Rivers was on the last leg of his career, and a healthy and productive Wentz should be an upgrade. 

The former No. 2 overall pick is looking to rebound in 2021 after getting benched in favor of Jalen Hurts in Philadelphia last season.
