Chargers vs. 49ers Prediction and Odds for NFL Week 10 (Brandon Staley Better Learn How to Stop the Run)
By Josh Yourish
The San Francisco 49ers were on their BYE in Week 9 and I just imagine Kyle Shanahan spending the entire time like a mad scientist in a lab somewhere underground. I’m sure he’s concocting insane plays to use Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, and George Kittle in even crazier ways.
Meanwhile, Brandon Staley spent his weekend barely beating the Atlanta Falcons and Marcus Mariota on a last second field goal from Cameron Dicker “the kicker.”
The Chargers are 5-3 after their last-second win and the 49ers are 4-4, but touchdown favorites over LA in Week 10.

Chargers vs. 49ers Prediction and Pick
The 49ers offense is going to be exciting once Deebo gets back on the field with McCaffrey. Two weeks ago against the other LA team, McCaffrey ran for a touchdown and 94 yards on 18 carries, caught a touchdown and 8 passes for 55 yards, and he threw a 34 yard touchdown. He is a freak and in this offense, he is especially terrifying.
The Niners rush offense is 15th in the league, but we know that is misleading because Shanahan has been creating the best rushing attack in the NFL for years and now he has one of the best running backs in football. The Chargers defense is allowing 5.7 yards per carry, the worst in the NFL. Brandon Staley is supposed to be a defensive innovator, but he has had years to do it and can’t figure out how to stop the run. Atlanta ran for 202 yards last week.
If Staley truly did change defense by playing two high safeties, then he might need to change it again to stop Shanahan and his new toys.
Pick: 49ers -6.5 (-107)
