The battle for dominance of Los Angeles football will continue Saturday night as the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams will square off. Both teams are expected to take a jump this season. The Rams are trying to get back to the Super Bowl while the Chargers are trying to get back to the playoffs.

The Chargers are all in on Justin Herbert and the hype surrounding him is ginormous. As for the Rams, they didn’t like their quarterback situation, so they traded for Matthew Stafford. This season is going to be an interesting one for both teams, and expectations will be high all year long.

The Rams won’t be playing Stafford or their backup John Wofford, which takes a little bit of the intrigue from this game.

"There is zero chance you will ever see Matthew Stafford take a snap in the preseason for the Rams as long as I'm the coach," McVay said on Fox Sports Radio. "That will never happen."

Brandon Staley apparently heard what McVay said and is making the same decision. He announced that Herbert wouldn't be playing at all in the preseason.

Here are the odds for their matchup on Saturday at 10 p.m. EST via WynnBET.

Chargers vs. Rams Spread, Odds and Over/Under

Spread:

Chargers: -4.0 (-110)

Rams: +4.0 (-110)

Moneyline:

Chargers: -195

Rams: +165

Over/Under: 33.5 (Over: -110/Under: -110)

Chargers vs. Rams Betting Trends

The Chargers are going to have a head coach and quarterback that have never gone through the preseason. All this will be new to them. The Rams have a way of doing things. Normally, the starters play little to no minutes and these become games for the backups to earn spots.

On the betting side, Sean McVay has hit the under in 8 of his 12 preseason games, making that 33.5 line a tempting one to take the under on.

Chargers vs. Rams Prediction and Pick

I’ll take the Chargers in this game. The fact the Rams will not even have their first or second string quarterback is a big deal. This will be a perfect opportunity for the Chargers defense to gain confidence moving forward and taking care of business when it is available.

With both starting quarterbacks resting and Wofford on the bench, that makes my pick a little harder, but I'm still with the Chargers.

I’m also going to take the under, as McVay is known for hitting the unders in preseason games.
