Charleston Southern stunned North Carolina Asheville in the first round of the Big South tournament on Thursday afternoon, erasing a late deficit to win 79-78 as double-digit underdogs and now look to make some magic in Charlotte.

The team moves on to face South Carolina Upstate in the quarterfinals on Friday afternoon. The Buccaneers lost both games in the season series, but the most recent was a barnburner, a 78-73 final in overtime.

There's a ton of volatility in this game as USC Upstate is the second best 3-point shooting team in the country, anchored by Jordan Gainey, who is shooting 52% from beyond the arc on a ton of volume. There's a chance that the team hits the ground running and blitzes the Bucs right off the floor after an emotional buzzer beating win in the first round.

However, I'm going to go the other way. This is on a neutral floor so maybe it takes some time for the Spartans to get comfortable in their new setting while Charleston Southern comes out hot after a big win at the horn in what has been a dismal season. Not to mention, USC Upstate is terrible at defending the rim, 323rd in the country, per Haslemetrics. So, the underdog can get some easy buckets in close.

This is a few too many points for me in a game that can be back and forth and have a lot of 3-point variance.
