The Pittsburgh Steelers wide receivers were the talk of the league last year. From breakout stars to underperforming seasons to TikTok videos, something was always happening.

Since Antonio Brown and the Steelers parted ways, Pittsburgh has been looking for a definitive replacement for its No. 1 receiver. Although JuJu Smith-Schuster is the big name with the most followers, Chase Claypool is projected to be the top dog on the Steelers.

WynnBET has released its odds for the NFL’s receiving yards leader and Claypool has the shortest odds of all the Steeler receivers. Claypool’s odds are set at +10000, with Diontae Johnson at +15000 and Smith-Schuster all the way at the bottom of the list at +50000.

Claypool and Smith-Schuster had the same amount of touchdowns last season, but Claypool was able to outperform him everywhere else. Despite having 35 fewer catches and eight fewer starts than Smith-Schuster, Claypool had more yards (873).

Claypool broke ontothe scene in the 2020 season after a four-touchdown performance against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4 of last season. As a rookie, Claypool was able to keep that momentum all through the season and become one of Ben Roethlisberger’s favorite targets.

In 2019, Smith-Schuster was touted as the next top dog for the Steelers, however the last two seasons have shown that he has thrived more in a secondary role.

Claypool’s main competition will be with Johnson. In 2020, Johnson had a breakout season, catching 88 passes for 923 yards and seven touchdowns. He quietly turned into the No. 1 option, but will have to earn it again this season.

Deciding which Steeler receiver will ultimately be the best is a hard choice, but Claypool might be the answer considering he accomplished all he did in his rookie year.
