In the first half of the 2021 NFL season, I did not think that the Kansas City Chiefs were going to rebound from their awful start. For those that don’t remember, the Chiefs opened their season by losing three of their first five games. Those losses came against the Ravens, Chargers, and Bills. They went on to lose just once more to the Titans but are undefeated in their last six games.

However, the Chiefs had another major issue that extended past that losing streak. While they started to win, the Chiefs still were not covering spreads. In their first nine games of the season, the Chiefs managed to cover just two of those games. But, the oddsmakers continued to set the Chiefs as favorites and they just kept losing. It’s amazing that, despite all their issues, this team has not opened once as a betting underdog in any of their 13 games. That might explain why their record against the spread (ATS) is just 6-7 heading into Week 15.

But, there is a silver lining here. See, while the Chiefs went just 2-7 ATS in their first nine games, they are 4-0 ATS in their last four. They have covered and beaten, the Cowboys, Broncos, and Raiders twice over the last four weeks. And, these wins haven’t been all that close either. The Chiefs have especially been unkind to the Raiders and have beaten them once by 27 with a 2.5 point spread and once by 39 with a 10 point spread. Worth noting that three of those four games were at home for the Chiefs.

So, have the Chiefs finally shaken off that bad case of suck they had in the early going? It would appear so. The Raiders are a garbage team right now but the ATS wins as favorites over the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos tell me the Chiefs are on the right side of things heading into the home stretch.

Next up for this team is a date on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers. WynnBET Sportsbook currently has the spread listed at -4 in favor of the Chiefs. I think that based on recent events this is a very good spot for KC to extend their ATS win streak to 5-0.
