Coming into the season, Seattle’s running back job was unquestionably Chris Carson’s. Now Carson is going to have to fight to keep as much of his spot as possible.

In Week 3, Carson had less than 50% of the snaps. While he was still the leader, Travis Homer had 23% of the snaps and Alex Collins had 26%. Carson not being the overwhelming top back should be concerning to Carson fantasy owners and anybody who’s betting on Carson rushing or receiving props.

While the snap count is a little concerning, here’s a little bit of solitude if you’re somehow invested in Carson. He still had a majority of the touches, with his amount totalling 14 while Homer and Collins combined for five. The Seattle Seahawks still believe in Carson as a play maker, but seeing him being taken off the field isn’t a good sign moving forward.

Seattle is averaging almost 108 rushing yards per game, with Carson accounting for 72 of those yards. Carson’s production is key to what the Seahawks want to do offensively.

The case for Carson is still a solid one. He’s been the lead back for years now and hasn’t given the Seahawks a solid reason to give up on him. Collins and Homer are solid backs, but they aren’t Carson. Neither have stolen touchdowns away from Carson, which is a really good sign for Carson-believers.

As the season progresses, Carson’s snaps should definitely be monitored and at the very least, give bettors a reason to be hesitant betting on him.

WynnBET has the Seahawks as +2.5 underdogs against the San Francisco 49ers this week.
