Is Chris Olave Playing Today? (Latest Injury Update for Bengals vs. Saints in NFL Week 6)
By Peter Dewey
The New Orleans Saints could be in trouble on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, as they are expected to be without their top three wide receivers.
The Saints already ruled out Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry in this game, and according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, rookie wideout Chris Olave (concussion) is not expected to play in Week 6.
Olave was injured in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks. The Saints, who are starting Andy Dalton at quarterback in Week 6, will likely lean on their running game against Cincy.
It's a good move that the team isn't rushing Olave back from a concussion, especially after some of the head injuries we've seen in the NFL this season. A first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Olave has been terrific for the Saints, racking up 25 catches for 389 yards and two scores in his first five games.
Olave had seen 39 targets from Week 2 through Week 5.
Tre'Quan Smith and Marquez Callaway are the next men up for the Saints at the receiver position. However, I think Olave's injury opens up the door for gadget man Taysom Hill (four touchdowns in Week 5) to have another big game on Sunday.
The Saints love using Hill as a runner, and he even threw for a score in Week 5. With less options on the outside, I expect New Orleans to get creative on offense. Hill is currently +210 to score in Week 6.
That may be a value for prop bettors, as Hill already has five rushing scores in five games this season.
The Bengals are road favorites in this game, and they may be the team to back given how banged up New Orleans is. That being said, it's worth noting that Cincy's offense has struggled to start this season, so we could also see a defensive battle in Week 6.
Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
